LaSalle Academy held a rededication service Sunday for a renovated gymnasium and faculty lounge to honor a friendship that grew between two recreational basketball referees, one in need of a kidney.
Ken Cooper, 56, of Shillington wanted to donate a kidney to Craig Rozycki, 52, of Robeson Township. Rozycki had been diagnosed in 1978 with Alport syndrome, a genetic kidney disorder.
Cooper was not a match for Rozycki, but donated a kidney last year to a stranger - Vickie Robles of Pemberton, N.J. - hoping his act would improve his friend's chances to be bumped up on a kidney exchange list.
