Though New Jersey is still lagging behind the rest of the country in the number of registered organ donors, a statewide organization hopes efforts in the coming years could convince Garden State residents to part with their lungs, livers and eyes when they die.
The New Jersey Organ and Tissue Sharing Network’s mission statement sums it up, according to spokesman Ron Simoncini.
The group believes organ donation is a “fundamental human obligation.”
