Pink organ-donor sticker have online connection

Signon San Diego | Mark Maynard

QUESTION: I registered as an organ donor a long time ago but my pink donor sticker fell off of my license. Is it still valid?

ANSWER: As of 2006, the DMV implemented a new system for organ donation. In the past, when the sticker fell off there was no system to check if the owner was a registered donor, leaving grieving families with a very difficult decision.

Since 2006, the organ donor registration has been transmitted to Donate Life California, our partner organ donor registry. The sticker was also placed underneath the laminate of your driver license or ID, so it could no longer fall off. If you are unsure if you are still listed as a donor, you can go to www.DonateLifeCA.org and click “Sign Me Up Now.”

You can provide your driver license number to ensure that the next time you receive a new license it will have the laminated sticker. For more information and registration:http://dmv.ca.gov/about/donateLife/donateLife.htm
