BRANSON Mo. — If anyone questions the impact of the sewing ministry at Central United Methodist Church, they should talk to Kristina Cline.
Cline, without hesitation, will tell you that the women donating their time and talents in the Sharing Hope Through Yarn outreach at the Webb City church have been nothing short of a God-send, at least for the Critical Care Services of Freeman Health System.
“What the lovely ladies from CUMC knit and crochet for us at Freeman are called comfort shawls,” said Cline, a registered nurse who is a family care specialist at the Joplin hospital. “These shawls are given to the families of organ, tissue and eye donors while they are still at the hospital. I wish these ladies could see what comfort and support their hard work and compassion give to the families of our local heroes who have given the gift of life. I still tear up every time I give out a comfort shawl.”
Jill Bresson, leader of the church group of about 10 volunteers, said they have made 50 shawls for Freeman since the beginning of the year.
