Under the name Wolverines for Life, organ, blood, tissue and marrow donation groups are uniting to achieve one common goal: saving lives.
And not in the usual “pro-life” sense of the word.
Wolverines for Life is a strategy to link the University of Michigan Health System and greater community with the American Red Cross, Be the Match Foundation, Gift of Life Michigan, the Michigan Eye-Bank and more.
On Nov. 16, Michigan Stadium and Wolverines for Life will play host to the “Be a Hero at the Big House” event, a twelve-hour donor drive expected to be U-M’s largest to date. Participants will be able to view the exclusive club-level seating area while giving blood, joining one of the organ or tissue registries, being screened for bone marrow donation and learning more about all of the organizations involved.
Though these groups have their successes, shortages still remain a problem.
