Running for a reason

Participants in the Hungry 4 Some Supper Myself 5- and 10-kilometer walk/run on Saturday at Pierce Park will have some family fun while also supporting Baraboo's food pantry and high school scholarships, organizer Jackie Smith said.

The event is in memory of her son, late Baraboo High School cross country runner Chris Rector, who died at age 16 in an accidental fall, Smith said.

Event organizers hope to honor Chris' memory by promoting the practice of organ donation, through which her son saved the lives of three people and helped many others.
