Tiffany Senter can finally breathe a sigh of relief.
The 18-year-old Shasta Lake resident with cystic fibrosis underwent a double lung transplant Sunday after eight months on a waiting list.
"It's our Thanksgiving present, that's what I'm thankful for right here," said Senter's mother, Shelly, from Lucile Packard Children's Hospital in Palo Alto, where her daughter was recovering Monday morning. "I couldn't ask for anything more."
For longer than a year now, Tiffany's lungs, damaged by the congenital disease, have been operating at about 30 percent their capacity.
