It's hard to imagine a more touching story than the news that Michigan City resident Brenda Biggs is starting a new life after a heart transplant, with the heart donated by the family of fallen Indianapolis Police Officer David Moore.
Tragically, Moore was killed when making a traffic stop in Indianapolis last January in a case that shocked not only Indianapolis, but the entire state. He was greatly loved by not only his family and friends, but by his fellow police officers and those who worked with him. To this day, Biggs reports, the officers touch a poster bearing his picture before heading out on their shifts in Indianapolis.
Biggs says she was privileged to meet Moore's mother, Joann, and the two became friends. She invited Moore to put her hand to Bigg's chest "to feel her son's heart beating."
