WHEN popular Trevor Witts died in September there was standing room only at his funeral as hundreds paid their respects to the dedicated youth worker.
His family were left devastated at their loss, but unbeknown to them, generous Trevor had not quite finished helping others.
During one of his final hospital visits, Trevor, 70, who was diagnosed with COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) had decided to sign up to the organ donor register so that when he passed away, his organs would help others in need.
But he kept his decision a secret from his family, including wife Eileen, 72, a well-known netball coach in the town.
She said: “I thought I knew the old rascal pretty well, but I just feel so proud of him.
“I wasn’t shocked when I found out that is what he wanted because it was just so typical of the man he was. He was always helping others, even up until his death.
