California man makes his way through New Jersey during 6-month walk across the country

Mike Tittinger has spent the past six months walking more than 3,000 miles across the nation and on Thursday he entered the South Jersey area as he crossed the final state border line of his epic journey.

The cross-country walk is to raise money for the Onny & Oboe Scholarship, which will help families directly affected by a heart transplant.

The scholarship is in remembrance of Tittinger’s first wife, Deanna, who had a heart condition since childhood and underwent a heart transplant before she passed away 10 years ago. It is named for the two imaginary friends she had a child. The two entities that drive Tittinger to believe that despite adversity, there is always an opportunity.
