Melrose Patch, MA | Mayor Rob Dolan
Members of Donate Life, the organ donation advocacy organization, join Mayor Rob Dolan and members of the Board of Aldermen in lighting the holiday tree on the City Hall lawn with green lights, to honor organ donors.
After the tree lighting, the Board of Aldermen voted to adopt a state law giving employees who donate an organ up to 30 days paid leave. Ann Linehan of Donate Life and David Shakespeare spoke in favor of the ordinance.
“Melrose is just the third community in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to adopt such an ordinance,” said Dolan. “We are a caring community, and this is one significant way that the city can support that.”
