LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- A 10-year-old Louisville girl is using her life-threatening disease to teach her classmates a lesson in giving.
Anna Parish has been waiting nearly three years for a liver transplant. Tuesday morning she partnered with the Kentucky Organ Donor Affiliates in the "Life Is Cool" program at Dunn Elementary, which is designed to teach students about organ and tissue donation.
Students went through hands-on activity stations, teaching them how the body works.
Anna is using this time to tell her classmates why it's important to become an organ donor: "Mine is different, and doesn't work as well as others, so it kind of scares me a little bit. But then I know that I'm going to get a new one and it's going to be all fine."
Fourteen schools have participated in the "Life Is Cool" program so far.
