A Vermont teenager and Olympic snowboarding hopeful will be honored at the Tournament of Roses Parade in California in a few weeks for his one final gift.
Dylan Peters, 18, of Williston, was a senior at Champlain Valley Union High School and a nationally ranked snowboarder when he was killed in a car crash earlier this year.
Dylan's family donated his organs, corneas and a variety of his tissue to several people on the verge of death. He's now been selected to represent Vermont, the rest of New England and New York on the "Donate Life" float in the Rose Parade. His portrait, made of materials like rice and coffee, will join 72 others from around the country. "He saved four lives with five organ donations. He gave sight to two people through the donation of corneas and an untold amount of tissue donation and it's just the right thing to do. It helped an awful lot of people and that makes me feel really good," said Sue Peters, Dylan's mother.
