Kentucky Organ Donor Registry trying to raise awareness for donations

The event took place at the U-Pike men's basketball game, an event some might say was perfect to raise awareness, considering Coach Kelly Wells is a organ recipient himself.

Kentucky organ donor members joined together on Thursday with the University of Pikeville to celebrate "Donate Life Night."

Officials with the program say there are a huge number of people currently awaiting a transplant. Most people say personal experiences led them to get involved with trying to help.

"I got involved because it saved my life and I wanted to get spread the word about organ donation." Don Willis, who received a kidney transplant said.
