A List that Affects Thousands This Holiday Season

Gift of Life Donor Program Blog

With the holiday season upon us, many are scrambling to complete last minute holiday shopping. While shopping lists may be on most minds, there is only one list that many families are worrying about – the transplant waiting list.

More than 112,000 people in The United States are waiting for a transplant, meaning 112,000 families are in turmoil this holiday season. At holiday parties and gatherings this week why not bring attention to a more crucial list to your friends and family by informing them about organ donation?
Tell friends and family that it takes only minutes to register to become an organ donor. In Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware, you can now add the donor designation online at the department of transportation or motor vehicle division web sites.

Perhaps mention that no major organized religionobjects to organ and tissue donation. Most openly support donation and recognize the life-giving gesture as the ultimate act of charity and self-sacrifice.
