A Four Corners family is celebrating the memory of a young man who will be honored in the Rose Bowl Parade next month.
Shawn Wero, 32, died last year after suffering brain injuries from a fall.
On Wednesday his family put the finishing touches on his portrait, which will hang on the Donate Life float in the parade in California.
His sister, Dulcy Sanchez, said Shawn was inspired to become an organ donor after his dad received a kidney.
“Just knowing that he gave life to someone else keeps us going. Shawn is here you know. In spirit and on this earth,” she said.
Wero donated his heart, kidneys, lungs, corneas and tissue. He saved five lives and his organs helped 50 people.
Two of his sisters will travel to California to help finish the float.
