Vincent Grillo was on dialysis for more than six years before he got the call that would change his life. The 46-year-old Gates resident was on a waiting list for several years before getting the word that he would finally receive the kidney he needed.
Now off dialysis, Grillo is grateful for the donation he received from Scott Patrick Conrad, a 29-year-old Rochester resident who died of a drug overdose in March 2010.Conrad made it known he was a registered organ donor before he passed away, and his family felt it was important to make sure his wishes were honored.
