At the annual Tree of Life ceremony inside of Rapidest Regional, loved ones are remembered as heroes.
People like Don Boone, a Pineville native who died at the age of 17 from a severe head injury.
"Don became a donor in 1992..and this year, LOPA chose to honor him."
Although his death was almost 20 years ago, pieces of him live on across the country. His Heart, liver, kidneys and cornea were donated to people who needed them. These precious gifts will now be talked about by millions by January of next year.
The Donate Life Campaign and the State Organ Procurement Agency have chosen Don's picture to be presented in the annual Rose Parade. His photo has been made into a florograph, a portrait made of organic materials that will be placed on the Donate Life float. His family could not be prouder of this honor.
"For Don to be chosen, to represent our family, and his florograph to actually be on this float, for over 47 million viewers to see, it's just so awesome."
