Quest to become famous given new life years after boy's accidental death

For the Oklahoma family of a 12-year-old ATV accident victim, Jayce Sheffield's dreams to become famous seem to becoming reality six years after his death. Watch for his floral portrait in the 2012 Donate Life Float in the Rose Bowl Parade.

Jayce Sheffield eased his lanky legs over the black and white bull's broad back, wrapped a braided rope around his left hand and shot out of the bucking chute in a blur of cowhide, hooves and black cowboy hat

Eight seconds later, still wearing that cowboy hat, the Wewoka boy dismounted and mentally notched a first place ride on Gideon.

After his 12th birthday ride that April 3, 2006, Jayce grinned and repeated his oft-heard phrase: “Someday I'm going to be famous.”

His mother, Paige Sheffield, heard him say those words many times.

No one in the family doubted that the determined bull rider, skateboarder, paintballer, baseball player and all-around athlete would someday make those heartfelt words become reality.
