Teen murder victim to be honored in Rose Parade

Nevada Donor Network

As 16-year old Aric Brill sat in the front seat of his parent’s car talking to his mother at the DMV, Karen Brill explained to her son that among the decisions he would make as a new driver was whether he wanted to be an organ donor. Karen says her son answered without hesitation, “Mom, if I don’t need my organs anymore, then I would want them to go to someone else.” Karen never imagined she would have to recall that conversation just a few months later when Aric was shot to death by men who tried to rob him as he walked home with his friends from a birthday party in February of 2009.

Aric would never return home to his family again, but his selfless decision meant six other men, women, and children, whose own time was running out, got a second chance at life and the opportunity to go home to their loved ones.
