Wall of Heros Dedicated at Hospital

KIII TV 3

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) - It was an emotional ceremony Wednesday at Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital. It was a dedication ceremony for the hospital's Wall of Heroes.

The wall features photos of those who after their death have saved lives through organ donation. The tribute can be found outside the second floor Intensive Care Unit. Among those honored on the wall, the daughter of Cora Garcia.

"As a recipient I am sorry for the family. That went through the loss. However that family gave the gift of life to someone else. They were able to pass on a joy that may not be present in their lives any longer. That will make somebody else's life better," says Kidney Recipient Gary Herring.

More than 10,000 people in Texas alone are awaiting life-saving organ transplants. If you would like to sign up to become a donor, you can log on to this web site to register: www.donatelifetexas.org
