X50 Project wants your organs!

KY3 | Jay Scherder

The Missouri State student driven project aims to sign up more than 1200 to the organ donor list.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo -- More than a hundred thousand people nationwide are currently waiting for an organ transplant. In fact an average of 18 people per day die due to a lack of available organs for transplant.

Some students at Missouri State University are trying to change that one signature at a time.

According to their website members of the X50 are "just a bunch of marketing students trying to make the world a better place by saving lives--50 at a time." Last year they signed up nearly a thousand new organ donors and this year they are hoping to top that.

For the second year in a row marketing students at Missouri State are rallying for a cause.
