2012 Tiny Tots Transplant Till Project

Scott Koonce

Tiny Tots Transplant Till Project 2012

As many of you may already know every year I “grow my beard for beans”… for an organization dedicated to helping those who are truly in need, may be less fortunate, experience struggles, hardships, and most importantly, can directly benefit from my fundraising efforts. This year I have chosen the “Tiny Tots Transplant Till” – this is a grassroots organization that we have started here and has helped so many of our Pediatric Transplant patients and their families here at the Miami Transplant Institute.

Over the last year, we identified a great need in our Pediatric Transplant patient population. These patients and their families contend with tremendous levels of stress and anxiety dealing with their illness, the transplant process, and their recuperation period. Being able to alleviate some of their worries and concerns particularly from a financial standpoint helps them to focus on the road ahead and not worry about how they will pay their utility bills (as many families still have to maintain their financial obligations in the home even though they may be here in Miami with a sick child), they need not worry about how they will be pay for meals, or pay for local housing as patients and families need to stay locally for post transplant follow-up (which can be up a three month period). This fund directly helps those in need cover local housing, meals, clothing, medication co-pays, transportation costs, clinic co-pays and even one month’s rent.

My Plan: To grow my beard till April 2012 without any modifications or trimming. Updates of my beard growth will be uploaded to my Face book account.

My Goal: To raise $1500.00 for our children and their families at the Miami Transplant Institute.

The Outcome: 100% of monies will go directly to the Tiny Tots Transplant Till fund and be used to help these special patients and their families.
