THE heartbroken family of Oli Smith-Daye have spoken of their pride after his tragic death helped save the lives of others.
Oli, 29, died in hospital after being attacked in Trimley Close, Clacton, early on New Year's Day.
Doctors were able to use his organs to help save the lives of six other patients. Oli's father Peter said his son had been on the organ donor register. "He has given life to six other people and I am very proud of that," said Mr Smith-Daye.
"It was his wish and I am extremely proud." He said his son had been able to donate five of his organs, and Oli’s liver had helped save an adult and a child. Oli’s grandmother, Pat Smith-Daye, said the family was united in their grief. "We are a very united family who have lost one of our much-loved members in tragic circumstances," she said.
