PASADENA, Calif. - A proud but bittersweet moment for former Bengal Ickey Woods and his family Monday when his deceased son was honored in the Rose Bowl Parade.
Jovante Woods was featured on the Donate Life float "One More Day" in the Rose Bowl Parade Monday afternoon.
"At age 16 he had just gotten his drives license and had just checked the organ donation box….and now his heart beats on in someone else's chest," said the announcer during the parade.
The teenager died in August 2010 following a severe asthma attack.
Inspired by floral clocks and clock towers from around the world, the float included six enormous floral time pieces adorned with 72 memorial "floragraphs" of deceased donors, including Jovante.
