Nilda Vargas had two dreams in life — to become a cop and to be a mom.
On Wednesday, at 7:38 a.m, through the wonders of modern transplant medicine, Officer Vargas realized both.
The 37-year-old cop from the 40th Precinct in the Bronx gave birth to her “miracle baby boy” Ayden three years after a kidney transplant.
“This is the best New Year’s ever,” said a joyful Vargas, cradling her healthy 6-pound, 4-ounce son at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital in midtown.
“When I developed kidney disease I lost hope,” she said. “I did not expect a baby to come into my life.”
