KMOO Radio and the family of Jacob Burrell will host an organ donor awareness rally in memory of Jacob.
The event will be held January 16, 2012 from 6 p.m.- 8p.m. at the Mineola High School multipurpose building.
Jacob, a student at Mineola High School, was killed in October after being struck by a vehicle on HWY 69 while walking home from Karate.
Jacob’s mother, Jamie Johnson, made the decision while Jacob was hospitalized to donate his organs. Jacob’s tragedy saved the lives of several recipients and in one particular case restored vision to an individual with the donation of Jacob’s eyes.
Recipients of Jacob’s organs, the Southwest Transplant team, and family members, will be on hand to speak at the rally. The transplant team will provide information on organ donations. The recipients will share what Jacob’s donations did for their lives and the lives of their loved ones.
