Liver transplant recipient promotes organ donation

KOLD CBS News 13 | Teresa Jun

TUCSON, AZ (KOLD) - Dianne Miller received a liver donation seven years ago. The transplant saved her life, and also changed it.

"I was at the end, and I saw the white light," Miller said as she described her moments in the hospital, close to death. "But on the very day they were going to pull off all the machines keeping me alive, (a donor) was found."

She has been living an active life ever since. She even participated in the 18th World Transplant Games, an international event that showcases the athletic skills of transplant recipients.

She won a gold medal for breaking the world record in 100-meter backstroke. But she decided to give her medal away to someone else -- Jazmyn Creason, 18, who received a life-saving liver transplant just this year.
