PASADENA, CA-A WNY woman is honoring her daughter's memory by riding the 'Donate Life' float in Monday's Tournament of Roses Parade.
Alison Gerlach was just 17-years-old when she died of complications related to a stroke. At the time, she was a well-loved student and outstanding athlete at Williamsville South High School.
Alison's parents, Randy and Claudia Gerlach, made the unselfish decision to donate her organs to those in need to keep other families from enduring the pain of losing someone they love.
Another way the Gerlach's continue to bring the Gift of Life to others is through Ali's Rally Foundation. Since its inception, the Foundation has raised over $145,000 for Upstate Western New York Transplant Services. Those funds are specifically designated towards 'Donate Life Clubs', a high school outreach program whose goal is to continue to make Western New York aware of the need for organ donation.
This theme of this year's float is ..."One More Day". The float is a tribute to donors and recipients as well as a platform for sharing stories of hope, generosity, transformation and love.
