Buddy Pigg was back in the pulpit on Sunday. He has been recovering from a kidney transplant performed at Carolinas Medical Center on Nov. 17.
Reverend Pigg is a minister at Mount Harmony Baptist Church in Matthews. He has had Stage 1 diabetes for 43 years and had been on dialysis for years awaiting a kidney. Both of his children were unable to donate due to health issues.
Then, a member of the congregation stepped forward to help.
Karen Lanham said she could sense that she was going to be a match and that she was meant to donate a kidney. Test results confirmed the match.
