Jason Letourneau — in one of the final tweets of his life — pledged to meet all of his Facebook and Twitter followers.
It was New Year’s Eve and not even a miserable respiratory infection could stop the 40-year-old social media junkie from reaching out to friends and colleagues at city hall.
“Have a great New Year’s Eve and New Year, Mr. Nenshi. Looking forward to a great 2012,” he posted on Twitter Dec. 31.
He died 10 days later.
As a heart transplant recipient, even ordinary illnesses posed a health risk for the popular executive assistant of Ward 12 Ald. Shane Keating.
His death has been felt by many at city hall.
“Jason’s passing has affected me and many of my colleagues quite deeply. His dedication to the business of making our city better was admirable and inspiring,” said Mayor Naheed Nenshi.
