Young heart transplant patient keeps positive outlook during recovery.
ST. GEORGE — Abby Doman’s recent return to school with a new heart is off to an up-and-down start. She gets sick easily because of her weakened immune system, and she is often too tired to finish an entire school day. And her feet and ankles are swollen, a problem that puzzles her doctors. But like she has throughout the process, Abby is keeping a positive outlook, inspiring and encouraging others with her persistence as she recovers.
After classes last week at Sunrise Ridge Intermediate School, said she is grateful to be back at all, visiting with friends, doing homework and even aiming to get back on the soccer field.
