Friday marks the 8 year anniversary of former Marquette basketball coach, Trey Schwab's double lung transplant.
"I could have very easily not made it. I had about 2 weeks left to live when I got the transplant" says Schwab.
Before the transplant, he was still coaching, all while battling a deadly genetic lung disease.
After a long 2 years on the organ donor list, he received the double lung transplant he badly needed. That transplant gave him the chance to live again. As each year passes Trey realizes just how special organ donation is. He says, "I'm very blessed to have gotten a pair of lungs 8 years ago. I got my life back, got my health back."
Trey now dedicates every day of his life to raising awareness about organ donation with the UW Hospital.
