WHEN Michelle Minchew dies, she will leave behind the greatest gift of all - her organs.
The Gisborne resident is on the national register for organ donation.
"If I can't use my organs any more, if they are good enough, someone should have a chance to continue their life," she says.
"Life's too short to waste what we've got; we need to take advantage of everything we've been given."
Ms Minchew is a volunteer for DonateLife and works with doctors and patients at Brooke Street Medical Clinic in Woodend, arming them with information on organ donation.
The reason behind her volunteer work is close to her heart. In 2007, her husband Peter became ill with cirrhosis of the liver.
