Organ program changes name to Sierra Donor Services

Golden State Donor Services/Sierra Eye and Tissue Donor Services has changed its name to Sierra Donor Services.

The new identity reflects the fact that the regional nonprofit provides a full range of organ donation services. It serves nearly 4 million people in inland Northern California and Northern Nevada.

Established in 1980 as an eye bank in 1980 by Dr. Mark J. Mannis — a professor who is currently chairman of the UC Davis Health System Eye Center — the program grew to a full service tissue bank 16 years later.
