Throughout the month of April, in celebration of National Donate Life Month, several hospitals in the state of Maryland, along with The Living Legacy Foundation, Maryland’s organ procurement organization and Donate Life Maryland will be hosting activities and providing opportunities for hospital employees as well as hospital visitors to designate themselves as organ, eye and tissue donors. The 2012 Donate Life Hospital Registry Challenge campaign brings a greater awareness to the community about the growing national waiting list of over 112,000 people waiting for a life-saving organ transplant. In Maryland, nearly 2,000 people are anxiously hoping for a second chance at life.
With more than two million Marylanders already making the decision to designate themselves as organ, eye and tissue donors, either through the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration or the Maryland Donor Registry at www.donatelifemaryland.org, this statewide initiative will encourage others to make the decision to be a donor.
