Monday morning, in a quiet and quaint community outside of Cleveland, a lone student shooter took the lives of three young people and injured two others at Chardon High School. Three students were transported to Cleveland Metro Hospital where they later succumb to death. The community and nation are again saddened, stunned and outraged at the senseless violence.
Today comes news that two of the victims, Russell King Jr. and Demetrius Hewlin have donated their organs to those in need. Demetrius indicated his wishes on his driver’s license and Russell’s family said it was something he wanted done. According to United Networking for Organ Sharing, “as of September 21, 2009, approximately 103,700 people in the United States were waiting on an organ donation. During the six-month period prior to this, only 7,250 received an organ donation.”
