OTTAWA — As Hélène Campbell recovers from her double lung transplant in a Toronto hospital, a group is planning a benefit concert in Ottawa to raise money for her family’s expenses.
The April 22 “Bands For Breath” fundraiser is being organized by Chez 106 DJ “Woody” and Luc Langlois, Hélène’s Grade 10 English teacher.
“This is a wonderful individual that is gaining notoriety for being selfless,” Woody said. “I’m just here to help this thing be a success.”
The event will take place at Greenfields Pub on 900 Greenbank Rd. from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. and will feature eight rock bands, raffles, auctions and an opportunity to sign up to be an organ donor.
Campbell is still recovering from her surgery in the Toronto General Hospital. Hélène’s popular alungstory twitter account and alungstory.ca website have been giving the public updates throughout her ordeal. Wednesday afternoon Helene tweeted for herself for the first time since her procedure, “just wanted to thank u all for the support #LYLT! [Love you long time] still got a ways to go but have the best support!!”
