Dad races in Great Manchester Run in memory of brave double lung transplant girl Rachael Wakefield - UK

Manchester Evening News | Alice McKeegan
The father of a young woman who inspired thousands of readers to sign up as organ donors is honouring her legacy – by running a race in her memory.

Rachael Wakefield, who was one of the youngest people ever to undergo a double lung transplant, was the face of our campaign which moved 20,000 people to join the donor register. She had vowed to take part in the Bupa Great Manchester Run with her dad, Phil Mottershead, to raise money for Wythenshawe Hospital’s transplant unit, where she had her operation.
