CANTON — Diagnosed with liver failure two years ago, Suzanne Walters became aware of the shortage of life-saving organs.
She currently is awaiting a liver transplant.
The 45-year-old is a diabetic and was diagnosed with primary biliary cirrhosis, a liver disorder, in 2002.
No longer able to work, Walters manages a blog, Faces of Hope for Life, which puts faces to names of people waiting for a life-saving organ transplant.
"I was able to find a vessel for emotional healing for myself," said Walters, a former registered nurse. "In talking to these people, I saw a light. Not everyone dies."
In observance of National Donate Life Month, Walters encourages people to sign up to be an organ, eye and tissue donor at FacesOfHopeForLife.org. The blog is holding a contest to win a Kindle Fire tablet.
Anyone who "likes" Faces of Hope For Life on Facebook or follows the blog on Twitter will be placed in a drawing to be held June 5.
