Paige's Promise event raises funds for organ donation
SAN ANGELO, Texas — One day after one of the most important championships in professional golf, San Angelo held a tournament important to Texans — Paige's Promise second annual Putt For Life Golf Tournament. The Turn the Paige Foundation hosted the four-person scramble on Monday at Bentwood Country Club to raise money and awareness for organ donations in Texas.
"All of the money goes to the Turn the Paige Foundation," founder Keli Pearce said. "We use the funds for public service advertisements and to help families go through transplants. But it's not just about money, it's a tool to get attention to the cause."
Pearce started the organization in 2009 in memory of her daughter Paige Corbell, an avid supporter of organ donation.
Texas had 432,338 registered donors when the organization was founded and with their help the state now has more than 2 million.
