Montana ranks second highest in the nation for people registered as organ donors

KBZK Bozeman Montana | Christina Lysack
We first told you a week ago about a Bozeman boy's sudden death, and how that tragedy gave four other children around the country a second chance at life, through organ donation.

Since six-year-old Bryce Autry's death, we have done research on organ donation to bring you the facts.

"Montana and Alaska have the highest statistic rates as far as being on the donor registry, Montana's 76% right now," said Chris Remely, Funeral Director of Dokken-Nelson Funeral Service.

According to LifeCenter Northwest, there are more than 100,000 people in the United States that are waiting for an organ transplant as we speak, and about 1,600 of them are within a few hundred miles of us. One person who makes a choice to donate their organs, tissue, and corneas can save or enhance the lives of more than 50 people.
