Organ Donation Advocates Links Hands for Life

WRTV Indianapolis
April Is National Donate Life Month

INDIANAPOLIS -- Organ donation recipients and the families who gave them a second chance at life will link hands around Monument Circle in an effort to raise awareness Friday.

More than 200 people are expected to encircle the Soldiers and Sailors Monument just before noon in a symbolic show of support for national Donate Life Month.

Lance Lewis, who received lungs from Officer David Moore, who was killed in the line of duty last year, will talk to the crowd about his journey.

"Two years ago, I couldn't have walked around the Circle, let alone up the steps or anything else," he told RTV6's Julie Pursley before the event. "My lung function was 18 percent, which is about as low as you can get."

Just more than a year later, Lewis is taking part in 5Ks and relishing his second chance at life.
