A moving celebration for organ donors, recipients and staffers at UK hoping more people will donate life.
"You never dream as a parent that you'll need to make a decision about organ donation for your child," said an emotional Michelle Landers from the podium. "But, because of who Hannah was, she made that decision for us."
Michelle Landers' daughter, 17-year-old Hannah, died in May of 2008 in a Woodford County crash. Michelle remembers taking her daughter to get her drivers license and talking about organ donation.
"She looked at me and said 'Why wouldn't I do that? I won't need them anymore and somebody else will.'"
Landers says she's glad to know parts of her daughter, including her heart, live on.
Like many who've lost a loved one, knowing they're helping the more than 113,000 Americans on the waiting list for organ donation live with hope is a comfort.
