Every sunrise and every sunset, I'm truly grateful to be in the land of the living. I'm a heart disease survivor through a heart transplant.
My story
March 2007, while working out at the gym I felt tightness in my chest. I contributed the tightness to an incident of mitral valve prolapsed, a condition of rapid heartbeats and sometimes tightness of the chest. A few days later while walking toward my office, I felt the same tightness I felt earlier. I was encouraged by my husband to make a doctor's appointment. The end result: my main left artery was 99 percent blocked. I was a heart attack waiting to happen. A stint was implanted to open that artery.
