TRENTON - The National Kidney Foundation Serving the Delaware Valley will host the 5th Annual Central New Jersey Kidney Walk on Sunday, June 3,at Mercer County Waterfront Park.
The NKF Kidney Walk is a non-competitive walk focusing on education and prevention of kidney and urinary tract diseases, and the awareness of the need for organ donation, according to a news release.
Walkers will have a chance to win prizes, as raffles will be drawn to win Six Flags Great Adventure tickets, Brunswick Zone family passes, New Jersey Devils’ signed items, Rita’s Water Ice coupons and more, as organizers hope to raise $65,000 for local kidney patients. Radio station 94.5 WPST will be appearing at the event with their prize wheel.
Family-friendly entertainment will include a magician, Trenton’s Juztice Dance Crew and New Jersey native hip-hop artist David Rush with DJ El Nino. Rush, a transplant recipient, is honorary chair of the walk. Rush has gone through dialysis, and was lucky enough to have a kidney match in his brother. In 2010, Rush received the transplant. Along with entertainment, plenty of free massages, food and drinks will be provided for the expected 500 people.
