Breathing woes put Helene Campbell back in hospital - Toronto, Canada

Toronto Sun | Tony Spears
OTTAWA - Organ donor advocate and recent double-lung transplant recipient Helene Campbell is back in hospital this week.

The Barrhaven woman had been discharged from a Toronto hospital May 4, but began to experience shortness of breath. She went to an emergency room and was readmitted Sunday, according to a blog update penned by her mother, Manon.

Campbell is well-known for using social media to preach the importance of organ donation, her message magnified by supportive tweets from pop star Justin Bieber and hockey commentator Don Cherry. She also made a Skype appearance on Ellen Degeneres' daytime television show and has been invited to appear in person when she is well enough.

Last week had been good for Campbell. Ottawa family visiting Toronto -- where she has been staying since before her early April transplant operation -- had been stunned to find her out of hospital.
