AUBREY — Joy in giving other people shots is a clue that three-year old Adrian Najera has had more than his fair share of injections.
At just one week old, Adrian was diagnosed with Hypoplastic Dysplastic kidneys, which means those organs are too small and under-developed.
"We were thinking we had a healthy baby," says Rosemary Najera, Adrian's mother, "And then they're telling us he's going to need dialysis and eventually a transplant. That was a mother's worst nightmare for me."
Doctors initially thought that transplant could wait until this summer, but a recent virus turned serious and Adrian is now in kidney failure.
So, just after Mothers Day at Children's Medical Center, Adrian's mom will give life to her son a second time with the donation of one of her own kidneys.
