SURROUNDED by scores of supporters, firefighters Stuart Vince and Phil Jackson set off on their massive fundraising challenge.

The pair from Cosham fire station started The Big Donor Challenge from Queen Alexandra Hospital yesterday morning.

For the next 11 days they will be running an average of 26 miles a day until they get to Land’s End, before rowing back from Penzance to Gunwharf Quays.

The pair want to get more people to sign the organ donor register, after Stuart donated his kidney to friend Michael Paxman, 19.

They are also raising £20,000, which will be split between QA and Southampton General Hospital.
