THE mother and father of teenage fire victim Duwayne Philpott agreed his organs should be donated to save other lives after taking the heartbreaking decision to turn off his life-support machine.
Grief-stricken Mick and Mairead Philpott wanted others to be given hope from the death of Duwayne, 13, one of their six children whose lives were claimed by a devastating blaze at their Allenton home.
Parish priest Father Alan Burbidge, who spent Sunday night with the couple at Birmingham Children's Hospital, said they had "hoped against hope" the teenager would pull through.
But they had to take the devastating decision late on Sunday night to let Duwayne slip away.
